@freezazoid American tipping system retarded? Not in my opinion. You have the choice to tip or not to. Unless the party is larger then like 10 people then a surcharge is applied, which usually happens at the nicer restaurants. And as to why fastfood workers not being tipped, they don't really serve you so why tip? They make the food like an assembly line, then you pick it up yourself and they expect you to bus your own tray, so why tip? Tipping is usually against store policy as well.
